Top Ten List for Inspiring Leaders...

While traveling last week, I let my mind ponder leadership in the Kingdom, one of my favorite subjects. Next week, I start leading a fresh group of about 25 leaders through a one year journey called SALT (Servants at Leadership Training) I can't wait.

I thought you might enjoy a "Top Ten List" as it relates to being/becoming a leader for God and His purposes in the world. I am sure I learned some of this from other leaders and/or some conference on leadership. I am indebted to so many pastors and friends for investing in me - I pray my leadership and ministry was worth your investment. Thanks - you know who you are!


i. I have to remain crystal clear on my calling from GOD! Everyday, I have to remember that I am on a mission from God!

ii. Make sure I am leveraging my spiritual gifts according to how God has given them!

iii. Make sure the players on my team are inspiring people! Get rid of de-motivating people! If you want to stay motivated, hire people who give you a jolt of inspiration every time they walk in your office. Of course, I need to do the same every time I walk in their office.

iv. Read great books - lots of books!

v. Make it a point to rub shoulders with exceptionally inspired people.

vi. Participate in events that are exceptionally inspiring events.

vii. Pay attention to my physical conditions and health habits. Studies have shown this makes a 20 – 30 % difference in my influence.

viii. Pay attention to my work spaces. (décor and neatness and messiness matters)

ix. Practice hobbies that charge my battery.

x. Practice daily spiritual disciplines. God says, “I will call you sought after.” (Isaiah 62:12) Practice saturation reflection, prayer, Scripture, fasting, and silence!
