Fasting for Spiritual Break Through

I am into day “30 something” of my Daniel’s Fast! Dude, I am sooooo hungry, but only at times. This morning is one of those times. All in all, it has been an amazing journey. I really appreciate your comments, prayer, and support over the course of this journey. I know some of you are in the midst of it with me.

Along with the fast, I have been reading an amazing book by one of my favorite authors. The book is titled, “Fasting for Spiritual Break Through” and the author is Elmer L. Towns. It is a great read that actually discusses, in detail, the various and sundry fasts we find in the Bible. If you want to borrow it after Easter, let me know.
Personally, I have been seeking God in more profound and powerful ways throughout this fast. If you want to pray more specifically, I would covet your prayers in the following ways:

1. I want to be a better husband and dad. To love Amy Lynn as Christ loved the church is a high calling. And to think God has given me 5 amazing kiddos still blows my mind. They deserve such an awesome dad.

2. I always want to lead newhope at the next level. To do so, I have to grow as a leader and transition my leadership. In other words, I can’t lead newhope today like I led her 5 years ago. I can’t lead her tomorrow like I am leading her today. As such, leadership is an organic journey of spiritual and practical growth. This is a HUGE year for our church as move to our post in the heart of central NC. I want God to do a great work in my life and help me reach my leadership potential. (Which is one of the reasons why our pastoral team is at a church and leadership conference right now!)

3. I long to see our church reach, teach, ad release more and more people for the cause of Christ. I shared a few weeks ago that I couldn’t get past the fact that the Bible says people who die without Jesus face a Christless eternity. As I have been on this spiritual journey of fasting, God has ignited that passion to a greater extent. The church is nothing less than a life-saving station so we cannot rest until everyone is safely home in the arms of our Father, through faith in the Son, and living empowered lives in the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Well, I have to go – the Pastoral Team is waiting for me at breakfast. More fruit and veggies here I come! :>)
